Crystal City

Crystal City SignCrystal City is located in South Central Manitoba, just 9 miles north of the United States border at North Dakota. The "Friendly Southern City" runs aside the most southern end of Highway #3.

In the spring the sky and fields are filled with geese as Crystal City is on a migration path. You can enjoy the eerie howl of coyotes from a nearby hill. Beaver, moose and wild turkeys are frequently spotted.
Summer visitors are impressed by the care and pride shown by individuals as they keep their yards and streets neat and beautiful. Children love playing in our two parks while the school property is also accessible for games and recreation. Several generations have played happily on the big park's horse swings, fondly remembered by a local author in her writings. In 2007 the Village of Crystal City was awarded the Urban Beautification Award for villages with population less than 1000.
In the spring a winding creek runs merrily past the scenic hillside cemetery. A walking trail along this stream and under a railway bridge has been developed.
Crystal City Community Printing Museum
This designated Heritage Site Building is probably the oldest in town. As you walk through the door the wonderful smell of ink and oil from the old typesetting and printing machines fills the air. You feel as if you could actually be back in 1881 when publisher Thomas Greenway and Co. issued their first "Rock Lake Herald". It is completely operational, and tours are given upon request. You will find your visit here fascinating.
